Poker gained popularity from the beginning of twentieth century and it evolved from just a recreational activity for a group of people to a major activity, which is quite popular among the poker enthusiasts. Even though origin of the poker game is still an enigma, it is believed that poker was played in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1829. By 90s, poker and casino gambling began to spread across United States. Poker acquired an unexpected spike by the beginning of 21st century like never before.
One of the main reasons for this spike in popularity is the introduction of Online Poker. Which allowed the players to play the game according to their comfort. In the year of 2009, the International Federation of Poker was formed in Lausanne, Switzerland. Which became the official governing body of Poker and also began to promote poker as a mind game.
